HALDIMAND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
CONSTITUTION
Article I NAME
The Society shall be known as the Haldimand Horticultural Society, as organized under the Horticultural Societies Act, 1975.
Article II MISSION
The mission of the Society shall be to encourage interest in horticulture:
1. By holding meetings for instruction and discussion on subjects connected with the theory and practice of horticulture.
2. By encouraging the improvement of home and public planting grounds, by the planting of trees, shrubs and flowers.
3. By interesting young people in the enjoyment of horticulture by any means as may be considered proper.
4. By holding exhibitions, contests, and competitions and awarding premiums for the production of vegetables, plants, flowers, trees and shrubs.
5. By distribution of seeds, plants, bulbs, flowers, shrubs and trees in ways calculated to create an interest in horticulture.
6. By promoting the circulation of horticultural books and periodicals.
7. By providing social activity to encourage membership.
Article III FLOWER EMBLEM
The official flower of the Society will be the Dahlia.
Article IV ORGANIZATION
The Haldimand Horticultural Society is a charitable, non-profit organization incorporated under the umbrella of the Ontario Horticultural Association pursuant to the laws of the Province of Ontario as governed by the Agricultural and Horticultural Organizations Act, R.S.O. 1990.
Article V AUTHORITY
Societies in the Ontario Horticultural Association are incorporated and their legal status and direction is governed by the Agricultural and Horticultural Organizations Act, and any revisions thereof as promulgated in the Statutes of Ontario.
Article VI AMENDMENTS
The Constitution and the By-Laws of the Haldimand Horticultural Society may be made and/or adopted, amended, or repealed by the Board of Directors, providing it is confirmed at an annual or regular meeting of the Society.
